- Crimp: The act of compressing the metal pins on the modular plug to pierce the cable's insulation, locking the wire in place.
- Strip: Removing the outer protective PVC jacket of the cable to expose the twisted wire pairs beneath.
- Cut: Integrated blades at the bottom of the handles used to snip or trim wires to an even length before insertion
